6/10Retro 60'lara Spector şahikası kız gruplarının sevişmeye hazır mısın? iddialaşması formülüyle Sons and Daughters tarihindeki en pop, en yakalayıcı, en can alıcı işi ile geliyor. 2003 yılında İskoçya'da çıkan grup evvelki iki albüm de barlar için nice şarkı armağan etmişti.Bu seferse adanın gitarıyla en çok flörtleşen isimlerinden Bernard Butler prodüktörlüğünde This Gift adında albümü kaydettiler. Sonuç değişmiyor;12'si de single olabilecek şarkıların hedefi yine barlar. Daha ilk şarkıları Gilt Complex'te solist Adele Bethel'in şekerli punk vokali birkaç şarkıyı yürütebiliyor ama uzaklardan seçilemeyen, senden çook var klasmana dahil ortalama vokali bir süre sonra açmış bakmış dolabı şeker de sanmış ilacı etkisi yaratıyor. Devamında gelen Split Lips yine canlı, yine melodik, yine woah-oh-oh. Chains'in 80'lar kız grupları asiliği eğlendiriyor da sanki. Albüme ismini veren şarkı This Gift ayrıca ilk güçlü şarkı. Darling'in yakalayıcı melodisi, o da ne, uzaklardan duyulan Town Called Malice melodisi. Son şarkıya gelene dek grubun Adele'ın bağırcam tabii ki de'leri kafayı ütülerken albümün kapanışını alan Goodbye Service ise yapmanız gereken buydu diyoruz. Fazla fazla İskoç grup Sons and Daughters 3 numaralı ve büyük oynadıkları sürekli bir kovalamacanın hakim olduğu şehvetli gitarların eşlik ettiği albümü This Gift -yalnızca hayranları için- adeta bir armağan. Partide yüksek volüm şarkıların ablukasına alınmak gibi biraz, aralarda çalan güzel şarkılar yordukları için seçilemiyor bile. Ambalajına vurulup kutusunu açtığınızda yeni bir süpriz karşılamıyor sizi.
