Brooklyn, New York fırlaması Santogold (Santi White) etrafta ne kadar dergi-site varsa hepsinin 2008 ümitlerinden biri olarak yaftalandı bile. İsminin geçtiği her yere bir adet de M.I.A. ekleyen şarkıcının bundan şikayet ettiğini düşünenler varsa yanılıyor zira M.I.A. ile kankiler, hatta bazı konserlere beraber çıkıp sahneyi yakıyorlar. Vahşi sahne şovuyla bu işte bende varım diyen, reggae-jungle keşiflerinden Santagold, Mark Ronson -Versions'da The Jam şarkısı Pretty Green'den hatırlayalım-, Bjork gibi isimlerin de ilgisini çekerek solo albümü için beklentileri bir hayli yükseltti.

7.4/10British Sea Power hayli iddialı albüm isimleri, Do You Like Rock Music? ile parnkartlarında evet yazanlar için canavar bir iş çıkarmış. İlk tebessümler Arcade Fire'a gidiyor; ekip 2000'lerin ilk 10 senesini avcunun içine aldığı düğün&cenaze seramonisinin ruh&kalp&el&ağzı&göz ile üflediği yansımaları BSP'de hissediliyor fazlasıyla. Yola çıktıklarında tüm güzel ekiplerden kan naklini yeterli dozda kendine narkozlayan BSP her giydiği parçayı doğru yerleştirmesini biliyor. The Decline of British Sea Power adlı ilk atışllarıyla hedeflere isabetini tutturan, sonrasında gelen Open Season ile tekrara kaçan, güzel bir yemeği ertesi gün masaya servis eden ekip Do You Like Rock Music? ile menüyü zenginleştirmesini bilmiş. Açılışta yer alan All In It adlı yeniden doğuşlarının simgesi, yarı ilahi, yarı mahşeri sound'a sahip şarkıları insanı bir ev olarak düşünürsek şayet depresyon pencerelerini aralamak için bire bir. No Lucifer ile şeytana pabucunu tersten giydiren, sağlam bir duvar ören grubun solisti Yan -aka Scott Wilkinson- Morrissey/Bowie nefes alışlarıyla ısıyı dengede tutuyor. Derken! Ve herkes hazırsa 2008'in en iyi şarkı adaylarından Waving Flags resmi geçitte selam için bekliyor. Tek bir bayrağa bağlı kalmak istemeyenlerin sakladığı kendi bayrakları dalgalanmak için bekliyor. Yan bu şarkıda daha bir coşuyor sanki. Tok sesi crooner vokali ile birleşiyor, rock! Geçtiğimiz aylarda çıkarttıkları Krankenhaus? adlı EP'lerinde yer verdikleri Atom ve Down On The Ground adlı şarkılar da yeni düzenlemeleri ile voltajı fişekleyen işler. BSP kimi şarkılarda Belle & Sebastian'ı da hatırlatıyor. Onlar No Need To Cry ya da Open The Door derken evvelden dillendirilen güzel masallar yeniden canlanıyor. BSP belki tam da buradan, eski güzel işleri bazen fazla anımsattıkkları için puan kaybediyor ama güzel işler başka güzel işlere kapı aralıyorsa müfettişi oynamak yerine şefkatli öğretmen olmak insanı daha rahatlatıyor.
